Cape Point Tour- Mackenzie and Edyn

One of the day trips Kenz and I went on while in CapeTown at the beginning of her trip to SA was a day tour of Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. The Cape is actually not the southern most point of Africa, but rather the most southwestern point of Africa. Cape Point is down the southern point of the Cape penninsula, about 60km from Cape Town and is part of Table Mountain National Park.

Here is a map to give you an idea. On the left, the little red dot is Cape Town. On the right is a close up of the pennisula which appears in the map on the left.

On the way, we made a couple of stops to see a few sights. The first stop was just outside of Cape Town near Camps Bay under the shadow of the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Here are couple of pictures of that:

The next stop was Hout Bay to get on a ferry to go see Seal Island. It is basically a rock formation with hundreds of seals. The seals are very used to people and swim and play in the water and just laze in the sun.

Here is Kenz on the boat on the way out to the Island.

And here are some pictures of Seal Island:

Next stop on the way was at the park at Cape Point. These pictures are from the little shop and visiters centre site. The tree is just there because it was cool looking.

On the tour, we also did an 8km bike ride. It was apparently 70% downhill, and I must say, the first 2km met that expectation...I'm pretty sure I didn't peddle at all on that first leg. Got a little tougher near the end, but overall, excellent scenary and well worth it! Kenz said no one would actually believe we were riding bikes so here's proof!
