Home sweet home!

Well, it's October and that means Thanksgiving. And I have a lot to be thankful for...I got to come home to Canada for a week. I had some meetings at work for a week so managed to book travel to be in Canada on the bookend weekends...and the first one was Thanksgiving. Took an hour and a half to get from Toronto to just past Milton and two hours to waterloo...well...it is a Friday rush hour and it is a holiday weekend. And...it is Octoberfest in Waterloo so very busy traffic. I got to see many of my friends...Marie Watson happened to be having a girls night out that I got to late, but did manage to see the crazy girls---Marie, Beaker, Marilyn, Adrian, Roseanne, Sandy...it was great. I went to Andrea and Pat's for Thanksgiving dinner Saturday....it was grea, but man...Pat's aunt talked constantly so Andrea and I bailed to go to a movie. I thought we hit bad luck with no choices but strangely enough, Jackass 2 was hysterical. Who'd a thought? i know everyone who knows me is shocked that I liked it (no one is shocked more than I am) but I laughed harder at that than I have in a long time. I guess it is important to keep an open mind. Sunday was Brigden Fair...and for once the weather was great. Dinner at the brother's then just hung out. I also got to see Jules but not Andy. I got wedding pictures though. If anyone who knows Jules and Andy want to see the pics, let me know and I can pass you on to Andy. And I got to talk to some other friends I've known forever but haven't seen in awhile...hi Spinny and Norma. I hadn't seen Norma in a few years and happen to run into her at the drugstore. What are the chances...I live 10 000 miles away and am never in Sarnia and I run into her in the 5 minutes I was at Shoppers. great to see her and catch up.

Work is work and it isn't great so let's just leave that one alone, suffice it to say, I may be home by February.

I am having dinner with Jody and Kurt tonight in Waterloo then lunch with Alan tonmorrow in Sarnia then I am here for one more weekend before heading back on Monday. Things have turned the corner in SA for sure and I am looking forward to the next few months. Summer is on it's way and it's about time I started working on my tan. I surprise myself today because I am looking forward to going back to South Africa. Three weeks ago I was afraid to come back to Canada because I thought I would really really not want to get on the plane back. So, given time, things work out okay...as they always do. I am prepared though for my house to have been broken in and my stuff stolen while I was away. I'll let you know if that happens. No surprise if it does.

oh yeah...it is October 12th and looking out the window in Waterloo we have...wait for it....SNOW!!! and it's really coming down. Too warm to stay but visibility isn't great. Okay...now it's stopped and it sunny again. One thing about here....if you don't like the weather, give it five minutes and it will change!

Signing off for now, but glad to be home in Canada and glad to be going home to SA!
